Keyword Research · Phoenix SEO

Find the searches your Phoenix customers actually run.

Keyword research isn’t running your URL through Ahrefs and exporting the list. It’s understanding what your Phoenix customers search at each stage of their buying process, where the competition is winnable, and what intent matches the kind of work you actually want.

Why Keyword Research Matters First

Wrong keyword targets = wasted SEO budget.

Most SEO programs we audit are targeting at least 30% keywords that shouldn’t be targeted at all — either because the intent doesn’t match the business, because the competition is unwinnable at the budget, or because the search volume is fake.

We start every engagement with a written keyword strategy: which terms we’ll go after, why, what intent class they belong to, and what each is worth to your business. No SEO work happens until that document is agreed.

Our Keyword Research Method

Five-pass process.

Seed list from your business

The terms YOU think customers should be finding you for. The terms your sales team hears on calls. The terms your existing GBP is set to.

Competitor mining

What are your top three Phoenix competitors ranking for that you aren’t? Gap analysis pulls hundreds of candidate terms.

Volume + difficulty + intent

Each candidate scored on three axes: monthly search volume (Phoenix-specific where possible), competitive difficulty, and commercial intent strength.

Question/long-tail expansion

“People also ask” pulls, AnswerThePublic, AI-supported intent expansion. Captures long-tail terms that often convert better than head terms.

Prioritization & phasing

Final list, prioritized by ROI potential and phased: which terms we go after in months 1–3, months 4–6, months 7–12.

FAQ

Keyword research — common questions.

Why not just target the highest-volume keywords?

High volume often means high competition, generic intent, and tire-kickers. A keyword with 200 monthly searches and high commercial intent often outperforms one with 8,000 searches and informational intent. Volume is just one factor.

Do you do keyword research as a standalone service?

Yes. We do one-time keyword strategy projects for businesses doing their own SEO. Deliverable is a written strategy document, scored keyword list, and a 60-minute strategy session.
